On August 24th, 2012, my midlife crisis went into full effect and Finally Friday! was born. I wasn't sure what would come of it, other than that I would keep plugging to see what would happen. After all, writing and talking about sports is all I've ever wanted to do. Period.
Tonight is December 24th, Christmas Eve. After only four months, this little endeavor has afforded me the pleasure of seeing scores of football and basketball games, experiencing a working press box during the State Championships, and a credentialed spot on press row for Wake Forest women's basketball. I'm a regular contributor to the SB Nation Wake Forest community: Blogger So Dear, where I've been able to write for a national audience.
Additionally, in the past couple of weeks I've ventured into the world of podcasting. For some reason, you people have downloaded/listened to my latest edition more than 200 times. In short, what started as a social media experiment has now put me in the express lane towards a dream that I once thought unattainable.
Over the past four months, I've met hundreds of folks who have been nice enough to participate in this endeavor, whether it's being interviewed, photographed, or just saying, "hello." That's a heck of a thing, and I'm very grateful.
That's why I'm proud to announce Phase Two of what I call, "Empire."
Mundy Night Lights is your one-stop shop for everything I put to paper, podcast, video or keyboard. I figure after years of hearing people mangle my name, I should be able to mangle it on my own terms. So, here goes.
Merry Christmas.
-John
